Man-on-top positions feed a man’s need to dominate by allowing him to penetrate his partner deeply, and a woman’s desire to be dominated because in them she takes the passive role. Most men enjoy penetrating a woman’s body as deeply as possible, and women like it too, especially when they are particularly aroused and want to be “filled up”. And, when a woman opens herself completely to her partner, it makes him feel very wanted. 3 Finally, pushing them both up the bed, his knees thrusting her legs wide apart, the man can penetrate his partner quite deeply. For her, the sensation is increased by having her knees close to her chest and her bottom raised by a pillow.

Using these positions the man is able to control his thrusting, and thus the speed at which he achieves orgasm. Control such as this is particularly beneficial if the man is at all worried about losing his erection, or if he wants to delay ejaculation.
Woman
Being on her back is relaxing and allows the woman free rein to lie back and enjoy the sensations of being taken or overpowered by her partner. It also “absolves” her from having to be responsible for what happens during sexual intercourse.
