HOW TO BECOME A BETTER LOVER – SOCIAL RESEARCHES
Shere Hite, who is an American sociologist, asked over 2000 women to relate their feelings about sex and about their lovers. The men do not come out of the survey very well.
Already, critics have said that The Hue Report was not a proper sociological survey. The participants were self-selected, not chosen at random. This is true. Shere Hite invited readers of several women’s magazines and members of women’s groups to respond to a questionnaire. It is also true that the women who answered did not come from all sections of American society. A disproportionate number (nearly 50 per cent) were unmarried and the women tended to be middle or upper-middle class. However, these women are more likely to be sexually aware and more sexually articulate than their sisters, so that if their answers show that sex is not the dreamy, romantic delight it is believed to be, the majority of American women are likely to be missing a lot of sexual pleasure.
